Time Difference New York: How Many Hours?
I am often asked what is our time difference with New York ? So, I’ll take you through this in this article.
New York is on the UTC/GMT-5 time zone in the winter and UTC/GMT-4 in the summer. There is therefore, as with us (for the moment), a time difference between winter and summer.
On the other hand, the transitions to summer and winter hours do not take place in New York on the same dates as here. Well yes, why make it simple when you can make it complicated?

Time Difference New York Vs Paris
In general, there is a 5 to 6 hour difference between New York and Paris. When it is noon in France, it is 6 or 7 am in New York. So it’s always later here than in New York.
This is the general rule to remember when it comes to New York time difference.
Now that we know that it is always earlier in New York than in Paris, how do you know if there is a 5 or 6 hour difference?
Winter Time In New York
For winter time, as in France, the change takes place at the end of October each year. However, it is not on the same date. In France, we switch to winter time on the night of October 29 to 30, while in New York, the switch to winter time takes place on the night of November 05 to 06.
There is therefore a 6-hour time difference between New York and Paris throughout the year, with the sole exception of this period of a few days. From October 30 to November 06, we only have a 5 hour time difference with New York.
DST In New York
Regarding the change to summer time, it’s the same thing. In France, we switched to summer time on the night of March 26 to 27, 2022, while New York did. done earlier, on the night of March 12-13.
This therefore means that between March 13 and 27, we once again only had a 5 hour time difference between New York and Paris.
The Effects Of Time Difference In New York
There is therefore a 6 hour time difference with France for most of the year, except during the first week of November, and for 2 weeks in March.
On the other hand, we don’t talk about it often enough, but it is not necessarily easy to manage the 6 hour time difference in New York. If you plan to visit New York, you will inevitably suffer the effects of jetlag.
You will tend to get up early for the first few days, since your body will be used to the French rhythm. When it’s 6 a.m. in New York, your body will think it’s already noon… No need to expect to sleep in New York during your first days there: you’ll wake up at dawn!
